Stephen is a 2006 graduate of Concordia University–Ann Arbor, Mi where he studied trumpet with Jean Moorehead-Libs earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music. He continued his education by earning Master’s in Choral Conducting from Central Michigan University studying under Dr. Nina Nash-Robertson, completing the degree in 2013. Stephen serves as the Director of Worship at St Peter’s Lutheran, Big Rapids, MI where he oversees all aspects of worship, which includes music, services planning, special service planning and service technology–Stephen directs the Adult Choir, Worship Ensemble, Children’s Choir and Cantate Choir. He also oversees and maintains the websites, social media, and edits video from time-to-time. Stephen is an accomplished organist, pianist, trumpeter and vocalist, and plays/sings frequently at St. Peter’s. He has been invited to play/sing for special events outside of St. Peter’s. Under his direction, the St. Peter’s Adult Choir has sung several master works that include Requiem by Faure, Gloria by Vivaldi, Requiem by Rutter, and several hymn festivals. He is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association.
